Skate Culture

Welcome to my skating blog! I'm happy you've stopped by. This is what I hope will be the dawn of a killer blog dedicated to skating. Im going to begin with a few of my opinions of how skating has had a bad rap in the press and media over the years and help get rid, hopefully, of some of these ideas.

Skateboarding is a pratice which has been around since the early 1970's but it is stunning how much poor vibe about it still is around today. It is time to debunk some of these skating myths for good. Bear in mind that most of the info you see out there, especially on the net is not 100% fact. The number 1 myth is that only teenagers take up in skateboarding. While they do represent a big group of the individuals involved in it, little children and even adults take part in it too.

Keep in mind that many of the world's best pros are in their mid 20's and early 30's and they have no plans to quit the sport any time soon!A skating myth that is finally stopping some is that skating is only for guys. While the majority of them are, more and more females are taking part in it. They don't mind what society says about it and they love the sport. The idea about this is that kids getting in in skateboarding have no goals in life. They are often typecast as kids with a lust to live on the edge and to start problems. Many of skaters are top students too and they even take part in community events.

But they don't get credit for any of that in the eyes of many people that wont see beyond the label that continues to stick.Numerous people wonder why there are plans in the works for skateboarding parks and such around their cities. They don't realize any real need for them because ofsmall numbers of people taking part in the sport. It isn't weird for skaters to travel 30 or so miles if they need to in order to find a good skate spot. Skateboarding doesn't get the recognition that it deserves for people to really take notice of that. The skate clothing industry has been growing for many years now and it's not uncommon to find anything from skate hoodies to skate hats in your local mall or stores.
